CTSC endeavours to employ a community
development approach to develop and maintain
partnerships with voluntary, community and
statutory agencies. As a result of these
relationships we frequently liaise and
mediate with bodies such as the Northern
Ireland Housing Executive, Health & Social
Services, local Church groups, local
residents and schools, education boards and
local community groups.

The community development approach allows
the worker to forge relationships between
our client base and other agencies. This
facilitates greater understanding and
empowers clients to access the wide range of
support systems in place to assist them and
their families.
Craigavon Travellers Support Committee has
representation on Craigavon Police Liaison
Committee. This provides an excellent
opportunity to respond directly to issues
raised by the wider community in Craigavon
in relation to the Traveller Community.

We are also involved in an interagency group
through Craigavon Borough Council and are
heavily involved in SAAT and the work that
it continues to facilitate.
At CTSC we endeavour to support Traveller
Families to become legal on the road and to
assist in this we offer Driving Theory
lessons for local families.
We offer support to access employment to
Travellers who are residing in the area,
some of our Travellers have gone on to
access courses at Southern Regional College.
CTSC regularly liaises with NIHE & private
Landlords to advocate on behalf of
Travellers who have issues regarding
accommodation. We are currently involved in
the NIHE’s local Craigavon Traveller
accommodation forum.
CTSC has taken an active lobbying role in
seeking appropriate Service Site provision
for the Traveller Families residing in the
Craigavon area.
We have been successful in accessing the
Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership
monies and as part of this have been able to
offer a health programme for the local
Traveller women in partnership with our
local Pharmacy. For more information on BCPP
