Craigavon Travellers
Support Committee provide the following
Education services:
- Visiting Teacher Services
- Homework Club
- Support for Traveller parents and
young people
- Liaise with schools, Educational
staff, CCMS and others
- Educational Visits
- Educational & Creative Workshops
- One to one support for Traveller
children
Homework Club runs three afternoons per
week Tuesday to Thursday covering an age
range of 7-12 years old. An average total of
400 contacts were made during the year.
An average total of 520 contacts were made
through the Play Club which continues to run
three afternoons per week from 2.00 pm to
3.45 pm.
Relationships continue to progress with the
schools in the area. The post of Education
Support Worker currently offers support to
children in the school setting and CTSC
based Homework Club. Literacy and numeracy
support is provided on a weekly basis to 25
children in 4 of the local schools. The
services provided to schools include advice
on cultural awareness, behaviour management,
mediation with Traveller parents and support
to parents during school visits. |
